Trek Project One Bikes Part 1: Crazy P1 2018 Trek Speed Concept up to €12,900!

In the first of a series of featured posts about Trek’s Project One bikes we will start with a fully loaded and crazy expensive Speed Concept. Click on through to check out the wild price and full specs…

At the top of the Speed Concept tree (yes these bikes do grow on trees…) is this model which we have built with Sram Red eTap and a Quark power meter chainset. We’ve also included a ceramic bottom bracket and it is rolling on Bontrager’s Aeolus 9 TLR carbon clincher wheelset and R3 race tyres.

If you want to follow the numbers more closely I’m on Strava as Rob Cummins Wheelworx or if you’re more of a pictures instead of reading type I post on Instagram as wheelworxrob.

It is also available as a paperback at Wheelworx.

I’ve kitted this one out with both the rear storage (draft box) and the top tube mounted speed/food box. but there is a whole raft of extras that can be added.

A couple of options that Trek offer and that we stock and can add on but that aren’t currently available within the Project One system are the rear Hilo Pro saddle mounted storage, this of course would have to be fitted with carbon bottle cages(there’s no point in cutting corners when you’ve gone this far)

Pedals are an obvious requirement but also aren’t available within the P1 set up and depending on your model of choice Shimano, Look, Speedplay or some other brand you could safely allow about €200 for pedals. You wouldn’t need to add Garmin Vector’s as you already have the power meter included.

The front integrated bottle mount could also be added as could frame mounted bottle cages. If you were to go with the full carbon options on all of these then you would be looking at a list price in excess of €12,900.

If you feel like treating yourself or your significant other we would of course be quite happy to chat to you about your weapon of choice. The new range of Speed Concepts are available and in store now at the time of writing and are currently starting from €3999.

You can email Rob at info@wheelworx.ie or call on 00353 1 6201000 to discuss all of the exciting options available.
