Did you ever wonder how you could possibly manage to do a two hour session on the turbo?  Read on for the secret…

Turbo training is an excellent way to build strength and fitness for road, mountain bike or triathlon. I think when it’s done right it’s a much more efficient way of training than riding outdoors particularly at this time of year when it can take as long to find all of your winter gear and get out the door as the ride takes.

If you want to follow the numbers more closely I’m on Strava as Rob Cummins Wheelworx or if you’re more of a pictures instead of reading type I post on Instagram as wheelworxrob.

It is also available as a paperback at Wheelworx.

A big benefit of the turbo comes from the fact that you are constantly working against the resistance of the motor unit. There is no downhill, freewheeling or drafting. Just good, honest hard work. You can also do single leg drills and hard intense intervals that would be difficult to do safely out on the road.

But the biggest benefit of taking part in our turbo classes has to be the effect that training in a group has on your work level and motivation. I find I never work as hard as when I know someone might see me slacking off. The class format keeps me honest and another big plus is how quickly the time goes. Even a lot of our regulars say they would never do a 2 hour turbo session on their own but in the class setting it’s no problem.

With our classes you have the option of bringing your own turbo or renting one. The price for the 8 week block using your own turbo is €100 and the price including rental is €120 for 8 weeks.

The classes are on Mondays, start at 6:30pm and are approx 2 hours long.

You can book here for non rental

and here if you would like to rent a turbo

You will need to bring a towel for under the bike and a smaller one for yourself. We also recommend that you bring water and maybe a banana or similar snack.
