2018 Trek FX 2 Disc

Lightweight frame and fork

The FX 2 Disc is the entry level model in the FX disc range. The frame is made from lightweight FX Alpha Gold Aluminium. It is DuoTrap S compatible which means you can fit an internal speed and cadence sensor that will pair up with Garmin or a bluetooth or Ant+ smartphone to track speed, distance etc. The frame also has rack and mudguard mounts front and rear. The fork on the FX 2 disc is also lightweight alloy.

2018 Trek FX 2 Disc


The 2018 Trek FX 3 Disc features the same frame as the FX2 Disc above but the fork on this model is the FX carbon model with both lowrider and mudguard mounts.

The disc brakes on the FX 3 Disc are upgraded to Shimano M315 hydraulic models compared to the mechanical brakes on the FX 2 Disc.

The wheels are tubeless conversion ready and come shod with Bontrager H2 Hard-case Lite tyres with built in puncture protection. They are a generous 700x32c size which offers excellent grip and comfort.

Trek FX S 4

2018 Trek FX S 4 Disc


The much more sports orientated FX S 4 is the first of the super lightweight range of fast commuters and sports leisure bikes. The frame is upgraded to 200 Series Alpha Aluminium. The same as both the lower spec models the FX S 4 is DuoTrap S compatible and also has integrated rack and mudguard mounts. The fork is the FX carbon model with hidden mudguard mounts.

The front wheel features a thru axle quick release which helps with stiffness and also reduces brake disc rub. The discs are Tektro HD-R310, hydraulic models and the drivetrain is Shimano Tiagra. Highlights include a super compact 48/34 chainset and wide ratio 11-34 10 speed rear cassette.

Comfort is provided up front by Bontrager Satellite IsoZone Plus gel ergonomic handle bar grips and out back also by Bontrager with their H1 leisure saddle.

Tyres are the same size as on the lower spec models 700×32 but are upgraded to Bontrager AW1 Hard-Case Lite with puncture protection but are a much faster rolling tyre.

2018 Trek Fx S 5 Disc

The 2018 Trek FX S 5 Disc is the first of the carbon fibre models. The frame is made from Trek’s proprietary 400 Series OCLV Carbon and features an IsoSpeed decoupler which acts like a shock absorption system for a smooth ride. The fork is also carbon and had hidden fender mounts.

Tyres are upgraded to puncture resistant Bontrager AW2 Hard-Case Lite, 700x32c. They are the lightweight kevlar folding model. The wheels are tubeless ready and have sealed bearings and thru axle quick releases.

Drive is the sporty Tiagra 10 speed and has a compact 50/34 chainset and an 11-34 super wide ratio cassette that will handle pretty much whatever hills you throw at it.


2018 Trek FX S 6 Disc

The 2018 Trek FX S 6 is the top of the range sporty flat bar hybrid. Built on the same carbon frame and fork as the FX S 5 Disc the key upgrades on the FX S 6 Disc are the drivetrain which is 11 speed Shimano 105. Braking is taken care of by the same Tektro HD-R310, hydraulic disc system as the FX S 5 disc.

There are some other spec upgrades like the Montrose saddle and carbon seatpost which reduce weight and improve comfort.
